Welcome to Space and Real Estate Management.
Space and Real Estate Management (SREM) oversees the University’s extensive portfolio of land and buildings. UVa owns 14,633,154 gross square feet of space in 532 buildings and 3,384 acres of land. Additionally, we administer approximately 55 leases, containing 334,000 square feet of rental space with annual rental amounts in excess of $5,000,000.
Specifically, SREM:
- Develops short and long term space planning strategies for the University
- Monitors occupancy and efficient utilization of leased and owned real property
- Reviews and coordinates real property transactions including leases, purchases, sales, and easements
- Establishes policies and procedures for acquisition and utilization of leased real property
Our group of six professionals is ready to assist you with meeting your space requirements, providing space planning services, furnishing space data and drawings, and performing all your real estate needs. Our unit assists others in our community with space planning and information, whether on grounds or leased; mapping; GIS; and all real estate issues dealing with state owned property controlled by the University.
