Purpose
The purpose of
Institutional Assessment and Studies surveys is to assess the quality
of undergraduate and graduate education at the University of Virginia.
By completing a questionnaire, you will provide important information
that will help the University identify ways in which it is succeeding
and areas in which it might improve.
Confidentiality
You may be
assured of complete confidentiality. Your name will be used primarily
for tracking purposes and will not be stored with your answers, nor
will it be used in any reports or publications that result from this
study. In some cases, we connect information from the University's
databases to survey results. Records of your responses will be maintained
by the respondent key sent to you by mail and email. Once the field
period has ended and the final data file for analysis is created, the respondent key will be stripped from your responses.
Copies of written comments will be provided in typed formats, so
it might be possible to identify a particular written comment with
the respondent, if the text contained identifying information, or
a comment such as, "As the only female graduate student in the
department of..." Also, please do not identify yourself in the text comments.
What happens
to my responses?
All survey data
is compiled into a database and then a Report of Results is generated.
These reports contain summaries of the data and are reviewed by University
officials to evaluate programs and services. Some are available on-line
in the Data Catalog (data
only) and Reports (includes
analysis).
Can
I get a copy of the results?
All reports
are sent to the office for which the survey was conducted as
soon as possible after the field period ends. The field period
is generally six weeks and tabulation of the results takes an
additional 6 to 8 weeks. If you would like a copy of the results,
you may contact Institutional Assessment and Studies. Summaries
of the data may be provided in some cases.
