Program Review
Surveys, 1996-2001: Graduate Students
Institutional Assessment
and Studies administered Program Review surveys annually between
1996-97 and 2000-01 to UVa faculty, alumni (graduate and undergraduate),
and current students (graduate and undergraduate). Program Review
is under the direction of the Vice President and Provost. Each year
a different set of programs/departments was reviewed. In all, 77
programs/departments were reviewed for this, the first round of
Program Review.
The surveys were conducted
in order to assess the strengths and weaknesses of each program/department
and to assist in formulating long-range academic plans.
Generally, respondents from several programs in the same discipline
were surveyed in the same year (e.g., fine arts--art, drama) with
the same instrument, thus allowing a program/department to compare
its responses to other, similar departments. Often departments would
tailor some of the survey questions to meet their unique needs.
