AccessUVa Pre-/Post-Personal Finance Formation Survey Fall 2006/Fall 2007
This pre- post-survey experiment, conducted in fall 2006 and to be conducted in fall 2007 on behalf
of the UVa Financial Aid Office, asked questions to undergraduate recipients of Pell Grants. All Pell recipients at UVa were surveyed.
In fall 2006, out of a total of 233 in the population, 182 responded, for a response
rate of 78%. The questionnaire asked about the students' knowledge
and behavior regarding their personal finances and was part of a
study to assess the financial management education component of
AccessUVa. The same population will be surveyed with the same instrument in fall 2007 to assess the impact of training
on budgeting, credit cards and interpretation of credit reports

Athletic Program Evaluation Survey 2007
This
survey was conducted in spring 2007 on behalf of the UVa Athletics
Department. The survey asked students about their experiences as student-athletes, including an assessment of their academic and social experiences in addition to their athletic journey. Moreover, the survey asked athletes about the new facilities available to them since the opening of John Paul Jones Arena. All 631 athletes were surveyed
and a total of 373 responded, for a response rate of 59%. |
Curriculum Internationalization Survey 2007
This survey, conducted in spring 2007 on behalf
of the Student Council Committee on Curriculum Internationalization, asked questions to undergraduate students about the students' opinions and behavior related to international aspects of the UVa curriculum and other international experiences. A random sample of undergraduate students
were surveyed. In addition to the random sample, oversamples of students from specific departments were used in order to ensure adequate representation on the department-specific parts of the questionnaire.
Out of a total of 2981 students in the sample, 1518 responded, for a response

Undergraduate Admissions Turndowns Survey 2007
This survey,
conducted in summer 2007 on behalf of the Offices of Admissions and
Student Financial Services, asked questions
of those applicants to the University who turned down an offer of
admission for the 2007-08 academic year. Out of a total of 2,891 in the turndowns sample, 1,640 responded,
for a response rate of 57%. The questionnaire inquired about the schools
they plan to attend and their experiences with the Admissions and
Financial Aid offices. The primary purpose of this year's survey was to identify the important factors influencing the decision to attend or not attend the University. To view the questionnaires, methodology,

Undergraduate Newly Admitted Students Survey 2007
This
survey was conducted in Spring 2007 at the request of the Office
of Admission and Student Financial Services. All 3,285 newly admitted students,
first-time, first-year only, were surveyed. 2,269 responded for a response rate of 69%. The survey
asked questions about the admission process, communications with
the Admissions and Student Financial Services Offices, and students'
expectations for summer orientation. The primary purpose of this year's survey was to identify the important factors influencing the decision to attend or not attend the University. To view the questionnaires, methodology,

Calendar Survey 2006
This
survey, conducted in spring 2006 on behalf of Vice President
and Provost Gene Block, asked questions to the entire academic
population at the University-all students and faculty from
the undergraduate and professional schools and staff in the
academic division. Out of a total of 23,410 in the sample,
50 respondents requested removal from the survey and 10,266
responded, for a response rate of 44%, which varied signficantly
depending upon the particular respondent subgroup (faculty,
staff, students). See methodology for response rates by subgroup.
The questionnaire asked about the University community's
opinions on the academic calendar, including when each semester
should begin and end, what the preferences for breaks are,

Undergraduate
Financial Literacy Survey 2006
This survey, conducted in
spring 2006 on behalf of the UVa Financial Aid Office, asked
questions to first- and fourth- year students. A random sample
of first- and fourth-year students were surveyed. In addition,
an oversample of high need students (200% of poverty level)
and Pell grant recipients were surveyed. Out of a total of
1,044 in the sample, 608 responded, for a response rate of
58%. The questionnaire asked about the students' knowledge
and behavior regarding their personal finances and was part
of a study to assess the financial management education component
of AccessUVa. Other surveys designed to measure the effectiveness
of AccessUVa have been conducted as well. To

Athletic Program Evaluation Survey 2006
This survey was conducted in spring 2006 on behalf of the UVa Athletics Department. The survey asked students about their expectations and experiences as student-athletes. All 640 athletes were surveyed and a total of 380 responded, for a response rate of 59%. |

of Engineering Undergraduate Newly Admitted Student Survey
2006
This
survey was conducted in summer 2006 at the request of the
Office of Admissions and the School of Engineering and Applied
Science (SEAS). All SEAS first-year newly-admitted students
were surveyed: 454 of 557 students responded for a response
rate of 82%. The survey asked questions about the admissions
process, communications with the Admissions and SEAS offices,

Admissions Turn Downs Survey 2006
This
survey, conducted in summer 2006 on behalf of the Offices of
Admissions,
Student Financial Services, and University Relations, asked questions
of those applicants to the University who turned down an offer
