Alumni Student Relations Survey 2003
The survey was conducted in the fall 2003 at the initiative of IAS.
A sample of 4,650 undergraduate alumni was surveyed, composed of random
samples from classes of 1983, 1993, 1998, 2001, and 2002. 1,662 alumni
responded, for a response rate of 36%. The survey asked alumni questions
about their satisfaction with various aspects of their life at the
University when they were undergraduates, as well as questions about
what they did while at UVa and what they are doing now. Each of the
undergraduate schools submitted some questions of their own for the
survey. A section of questions just for African-Americans was also

School
of Engineering Undergraduate Alumni Survey 2002
The survey was Conducted on behalf of SEAS in Summer 2002 to support
ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc) reaccreditation
process. It was designed to assess particular skills of SEAS undergraduates
in the workplace. A total of 1462 SEAS undergraduate alumni were surveyed,
and 538 responded, for a response rate of 37%. To view the questionnaires,

Council of Higher Education Survey of Graduates of Virginia
Colleges and Universities (SCHEV) 1998-99
A survey of alumni who received undergraduate degrees for
the University between July 1995 and June 1996. The survey
is required by SCHEV of all public colleges and universities
in Virginia. The purpose of the survey was to determine
alumni satisfaction with their undergraduate education,
their employment and education after graduation, and the
financial aid required for their undergraduate education.
Between November 1998 and May 1999, IAS administered the
survey to 1,389 alumni. 917 participated in the survey,
for a response rate of 66%.

Council of Higher Education Survey of Graduates of Virginia
Colleges and Universities (SCHEV) 1997
A survey of alumni who received undergraduate degrees for
the University between July 1993 and June 1994. The survey
is required by SCHEV of all public colleges and universities
in Virginia. The purpose of the survey was to determine
alumni satisfaction with their undergraduate education,
their employment and education after graduation, and the
financial aid required for their undergraduate education.
During the summer of 1997, 735 Alumni from the College of
Arts and Sciences and the Schools of Architecture, Commerce,
Education, Engineering, and Nursing were surveyed out of
an initial sample size of 1250, for a response rate of 59%.
Surveys were sent by mail, and the results were weighted
to ensure that the results reflect the proper proportion
of alumni from the University's six schools.

Undergraduate
Alumni Survey
1997
The University of Virginia's Office of Institutional Assessment and Studies
conducted a survey of 1,188 alumni of the class of 1992 during the summer
of 1997 to assess the impact of undergraduate education on students'
lives five years after graduation. One of the more specific objectives
of the survey was to learn about the careers UVa graduates choose, including
how they obtained those careers and how well their undergraduate experience
served them in their career goals.

Experiences of University of Virginia Alumni 1992
Survey of alumni and alumnae to assess the impact of their UVa undergraduate
education two, five, and ten years after graduation. IAS conducted the
survey in the summer and fall of 1992. The mail survey of randomly selected
alumni from the classes of 1982, 1987, and 1990 requested detailed information
about what graduates were doing in both their personal lives and in their
careers. The survey asked graduates about their academic pursuits and
their extracurricular activities while they were undergraduates, their
current satisfaction with various aspects of the University, and how
their undergraduate experiences have influenced their lives after graduation.
1,439 alumni and alumnae participated in the survey, out of an initial
sample of 2,500 for a response rate of 62% (excluding respondents who
could not be contacted).

Calendar Survey 2006
This
survey, conducted in spring 2006 on behalf of Vice President
and Provost Gene Block, asked questions to the entire academic
population at the University-all students and faculty from
the undergraduate and professional schools and staff in the
academic division. Out of a total of 23,410 in the sample,
50 respondents requested removal from the survey and 10,266
responded, for a response rate of 44%, which varied signficantly
depending upon the particular respondent subgroup (faculty,
staff, students). See methodology for response rates by subgroup.
The questionnaire asked about the University community's
opinions on the academic calendar, including when each semester
should begin and end, what the preferences for breaks are,

Graduate
Student Survey 2004
This survey was conducted in fall 2004 at the request of the Graduate
Student Council and the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies.
A total of 1,969 graduate students were surveyed and 1,523 responded,
for a response rate of 77%. The survey asked questions about graduate
student life at the University of Virginia including research fees,

Undergraduate
and Graduate Residence Life Evaluation 2004
The evaluation census was conducted at the request of the Office of
Residence Life in fall 2004. All students living on-grounds were surveyed.
The survey asked questions about students' level of satisfaction with
various aspects of residence life and their relations with resident
